MyDD.ai Under the Hood: How It Stays Kid-Friendly
November 26, 2025
At MyDD.ai, we believe AI fluency will be a foundational skill for the next generation. But we also know that introducing your child to AI requires trust.
We don’t take this responsibility lightly. MyDD is committed to child safety and age-appropriate experiences. To achieve this, we send specific instructions to the AI alongside every question your child asks. These instructions are called System Prompts. We believe in transparency, which is why we’ve made ours open-source for every parent to review.
These instructions are tailored to your child’s specific developmental stage. They guide the AI on:
- The appropriate complexity of language to use.
- Which topics are off-limits.
- How to respond in a crisis.
- How to coach a child through homework without simply giving the answer.
Crucially, the AI does this while respecting your child’s intelligence, ensuring they are protected, not “babied.”
Beyond mediating the AI interactions, we believe in supervision, not surveillance. You shouldn’t have to look over your child’s shoulder to keep them safe. Instead, we provide weekly summaries of your child’s interests and inquiries so you can stay connected to their interests.
Finally, safety is our core feature. If your child is asking about topics related to self‑harm, violence, exploitation, or drugs, we will send you an immediate alert explaining exactly what was asked and why it was flagged.
